These are a special present I made for a family member of mine, her name is Yuka. She's from Japan so I wanted to incorporate that into the design. I thought about going with the traditional Japanese flag and thought it would be great to do a quilting to go along as if they were the sun rays. The only problem I had was how to come up with the sun, so I came up with the idea to add a toe panel representing the sun. I made these with canvas on all panels for a more traditional look.
